Local Conditions

One of the primary management responsibilities of the Sacramento Groundwater Authority is to monitor and assess groundwater basin conditions. Two of the broadest indicators of the basin's status are groundwater elevations and groundwater quality. Representative groundwater elevation data for the basin are collected by various agencies. Beginning in spring 2004, water level and quality collection efforts will be closely coordinated between SGA, its members, the California Department of Water Resources, and other agencies. These monitoring activities are described in the SGA Groundwater Management Plan.

In early 2004, SGA will produce its first comprehensive State of the Basin Report based on the compilation of member agency groundwater data. The report will be available and posted at this website when completed.

In December 2002, a Summary of Basin Conditions was prepared based on a limited amount of available data.
